Joshua Skains
Sr. Systems Administrator

Since 5 years of age, pounding away on an Apple IIe, Joshua Michael Skains has never been without a computer. Growing up in the desert town of El Centro, CA, he started his own electronic BBS in the 90’s. As the system grew in membership, he eventually converted it into one of the first Internet Service Providers in the Southern California area. Developing it into a profitable business during his High School years, he eventually left for college to San Diego in 1995. Slowly getting experience from traditional firms like Qualcomm, Solar Turbines, and Luth Research as an IT professional. Joshua moved to San Francisco during the Dot.com expansion to work with Military Advantage, a web portal and community site for current and former military members. There he developed skills in internet technologies, web site management, and database administration. After the famous dot.com fallout, Joshua moved back to San Diego to work for a semiconductor company as an engineering IT Systems Administrator.

Joshua has experience in many platforms including Windows, Unix, Linux, and Macintosh. He also has a strong background in networking, both intranet and internet.

JC Harkins
Sr. Account Manager

After 6 years of Submarine Service in the US Navy, JC returned to civilian life to complete a college degree. In 1998, he graduated from UC San Diego’s Revelle College with a degree in Electrical Engineering and immediately started work as an engineer at Cubic is Kearny Mesa. After a few years, JC moved to a small startup company named Ribotech that focused on motion control with a specialty in computerized automation. In 2003, market conditions forced the company to close its doors and JC moved on to Delta Design, a company that makes equipment for testing semiconductors. In 2004, after many years of exposure to computers and networks, JC decided to start his own business and opened a Mobile IT company. In 2006, JC decided to take on a partner and the two of them started Silver Sphere Enterprises Inc., the parent company of Silver Sphere Computer Services. From the beginning, their goal was to create a customer oriented company that prides itself on a high level of customer service. Their skills compliment each other which allow for Silver Sphere Computer Services to support their customers from both the business and the technology points of view. JC’s role with the company is to get new clients, maintain daily interface with them and to perform routine maintenance on all systems.

Through out the years of exposure to computers and networks, JC has become experienced with Windows servers and desktops, routers, firewalls, Unix and Linux systems, Wi-Fi, and VPNs.
